Jimmy D. "Jimbo" Mikel, age 64, passed away on January 2, 2026. He was born on November 26, 1961, and was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose love for family and simple joys defined his life.
Jimbo was preceded in death by his father, Donald Lee Mikel; his mother, Betty Grace Mikel; and his sisters, Sandra Gail Kelly, Sharlene Mikel, and Darlene Mikel, with whom he shared a special bond as twin sisters.
He is survived by his brother, Greg (Connie) Mikel; nieces, Tabitha (Rodney) Wattson and Nickie Pippenger; nephews, Jason Pippenger, Michael Wade, and Tommy Hesson; great-nieces, Hayleigh Wattson and Nora Russell; great-nephew, Hayden Wattson; aunt, Deanie Richardson; uncle, Jimmy Mikel; and special friend, Timmy Norwood. Jimbo also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Jimbo was of the Baptist faith and retired from Davis Painting after many years of dedicated work. He enjoyed watching the Tennessee Vols play and spending time fishing, finding peace and happiness in the outdoors. Above all else, Jimmy loved his family fiercely, holding a particularly close place in his heart for his twin sisters, Sharlene and Darlene, and his oldest brother, Greg.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Companion Funeral Home - Cleveland Chapel. Visitation will take place from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Ray Cheathem. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Cemetery in Cleveland, Tennessee. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Jimbo will be remembered for his loyalty, his deep love for family, and the quiet joy he found in life's simple moments. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
