Jewell Ruby Sayne

Ruby Jewell (Bell) Sayne, 92, of Cleveland, TN passed away June 26, 2026, at Hospice Care Center in Chattanooga. Daughter of the late Walter and Irene (Simmonds) Bell, Ruby was born November 5, 1933, in Hothouse, NC.

Priorities in her life were God, family, and serving others. This was easily seen during the years she dedicated herself as a nurse in Florida. After retirement in 1992, she would marry Clarence Sayne, and they would enjoy her other passions of travel and gardening.

Left to cherish the many happy memories are her children, two daughters Martha Shope and Renae (Mark) Wells and two sons Jeff (Sharlene) Williams and David (Debbie) Gonzalez. Grandchildren Chris (Elizabeth) and Julie Shope, Amanda (Todd) Rentschler, Thomas Shillings and Chad. Her Great Grandchildren include Orion and Daniel Shope and Regan Rentschler. She also has several step-grandchildren Shanda and Joshua McCartney, Tiffany Smith, Hunter, Tanner and Trevor White and Kaden Williams. Several step-great grandchildren and special Great Granddaughter Ravenleigh White. Aunt Ruby also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Ruby was preceded in by her husband of 34 years, Clarence; son Michael Williams; her parents; sister Linda Jo Tolbert; son-in-law Danny Shope and step-grandson Frankie McCartney.

After returning to TN, she and Clarence would serve together at Sunrise Baptist Church.

The family will plan a Celebration of Life at a later date.
