Jessie Lea Barker

Jessie L. Barker, age 78, of McDonald, Tennessee, passed away on March 7, 2026. She was a lifelong resident of Bradley County. Jessie enjoyed gardening, camping, spending time with family and friends, and attending church. She was an active member of Pine Hill Church of God, where she dearly loved her church family. Throughout the years she faithfully served the church by teaching Sunday School, serving as treasurer, and helping keep the church clean. Jessie had a warm and welcoming spirit, often striking up conversations with anyone she met-she truly never knew a stranger. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who cherished her family and those around her.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ethel (Gibson) Rapier, two brothers and eight sisters and daughter-in-law, Buffie (Stone) Barker.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 59 years, Lonnie Manson Barker; her children, Stacey McGee (Joel McGee), Chris Manson Barker, and Joshua Fred Barker (Cicely Nichole Barker); her grandchildren, Kendall Ashton Wood (John), Jerra Maleek Barker, Gunner Manson Barker (Taylor), Sophie Grace Barker, Evan Landry Barker, and Ava Claire Barker; her great-grandchildren, Ki Gideon Barker, Everlee Blake Barker, Zander Joel Roth and Jillian Margaret Wood; her brother, Charles Steven Rapier; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Companion Funeral Home - The Cleveland Chapel beginning at 1:00 pm with Pastor Jason Ollis officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm prior to the service.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Erlanger Women's Oncology for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they showed Jessie during the many years she was a patient there.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to McDonald Community Outreach, 176 McDonald School Road, McDonald, TN 37353 in memory of Jessie L. Barker.
