With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Jerry Wilbur Sheffield Jr.
Jerry, originally of Gainesville, Florida, and most recently of Kingston and Sevierville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family Saturday June 27, 2026.
Above all else, Jerry loved the Lord and lived his life according to God's Word. He found great joy in sharing God's love with others. He was a man of strength, unwavering kindness, and deep devotion to his family.
Jerry loved spending time outdoors camping, fishing, taking scenic drives, leading church services on the lake, and trying new recipes while also sharing the family favorites everyone looked forward to. His fish frys -complete with his famous hush puppies, a treasured recipe passed down from his father-were more than a meal; they were a way of bringing family and friends together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Dorothy Sheffield.
Jerry leaves behind the love of his life and devoted wife of 53 years, Estelle Sheffield. Their marriage was a beautiful example of unconditional love, faithfulness, and commitment. He also leaves behind his children: Denise Heath (Doug), Jerry Wilbur Sheffield III "Will" (Amber), and Christy Perault (Jeffrey).
He was a proud and loving grandfather to Doug Heath III (Anna), Eli Heath, Jase Perault, and Landon Perault. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his grandchildren and watching them grow.
He is also survived by his siblings, Linda Hale (Jimmy), Melissa Sheffield, Pete Sheffield (Laura), and Harry Nettle (Julie), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were blessed to know him.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing Jerry is now in the presence of his Savior, where faith has become sight and love endures forever. His legacy of faith, love, humility, and unwavering devotion to his family will live on in each of us.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness." - 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
