Jerry Allen McKeel, 78, of Ten Mile, TN, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026. He was born on January 19, 1948 in Chattanooga, TN to parents Betty B. McKeel and Albert J. McKeel.
Jerry served in the U. S. Army, veteran of the Vietnam war with honorable service. Upon his return home, he started McKeel Plumbing, which he successfully owned and operated for over 30 years. Those closest to him called him "Plumber".
Jerry was known for his quick wit, humor, honesty, love for dogs, extensive skills in home improvement and plumbing, and willingness to help those he loved. He enjoyed debating politics, spending time with friends and family, being on the water, and time at the VFW of Athens.
Those left to cherish his memory are his nephews, Jeff (Kristy) Oliver, Hixson, TN; David (Andrea) Oliver, Crestview, FL; several grand nieces and nephews, and many close friends. He will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents (Betty and Albert McKeel) and Donnie McKeel (brother), Sherry F. Oliver (sister).
Family will receive guests at the Chapel of Companion Funeral Home, located at 400 S White St, Athens, TN 37303 on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.. Graveside service and burial will immediately follow at the National Cemetery (pavilion) officiated by Pastor Guinn Green, located at 1200 Bailey Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404 and begin at 1:30 p.m..
