Jasper Gary Hicks, 75, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord on April 26, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 40 years, Deborah Yates Hicks; his parents, Herbert "Bud" Hicks and Kathleen Hicks; and his brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Libby Hicks.
Gary is survived by a loving and close-knit family, including his brother Herbert "Junior" Hicks and wife Wanda; brother Jimmie Hicks and wife Connie; sister Nancy Douglas and her husband Kenny; sister Judy Matoy; his brother-in-law Dennis Yates and wife Sherry; and his special cousin, Bobby Underwood. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and great- nieces and nephews who will continue to honor his legacy and memory. In addition, Gary will be fondly remembered by his lifelong friends Jerry Estes, Allen Cansler, R.H. Lovin, Jerry Summey, Doak Woodruff, Roy Prince, and Jim Farley, whose friendships meant a great deal to him throughout his life.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Gary was the proud owner of Hicks Painting and Home Maintenance in Lenoir City, Tennessee. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, as he was a faithful member of Grace Primitive Baptist Church in Loudon, Tennessee, and also attended Sweetwater Primitive Baptist Church in Sweetwater Tennessee.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Adoration Hospice Care in Sweetwater, with special appreciation to Leah, Cheyenne, Kim, Lexi, and Patty for their compassionate care and support during this time.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation from 1:00-2:00 PM, followed by a celebration of Gary's life immediately after visitation on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Sweetwater Primitive Baptist Church, 947 Old Highway 68, Sweetwater, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
