James better known to most as Jimmy, although born in Paris France he lived most of his life as a resident of Bradley County, Tennessee. James was born July 17, 1964, and lived to age sixty before he passed from this life on June 14th, 2025, at his mother's home. He faced many struggles in relation to his health and was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year in January. James lost the battle to cancer just a few short months after being diagnosed and treatments had no effect. James attended local schools and graduated from Bradley Central High School. He enjoyed many hobbies of which he was quite prolific as a horticulture hobbyist. Seemingly always found himself with a green thumb, planting and growing a wild array of flowers, shrubs and trees. In addition, he found much joy in antiquing, in finding, restoring and displaying ornate antiques all around. In all things, one thing for sure is James was loved dearly by his mother Gisela and his siblings whom he left behind.
James was preceded in death by his father Billy D. Singleton and both maternal (Mr. & Mrs. Arlt of Heilbronn, Germany) and paternal (Mr. & Mrs. Singleton of Cleveland, TN) grandparents. Surviving James was his mother Gisela Singleton, his brother John D. Davis (wife Margie), sister Sylvia Peels (husband Danny), sister Lisa E. Mitchell (husband Mike), and sister Billie Jo Flowers (husband Robby). Along with many nephews and nieces, great and great, great nephews and nieces.
The family will miss him and always remember the times that they shared with him while living and their love will never fade nor will his memory in their minds. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Adoration Hospice group and would like to make special mention of LaWanda, Kirby, Curtis and Emma along with all the others that took care of James in his last days, to help ease his pain, care for him and make him as comfortable as was possible, supporting him both mentally and physically to cope with his plight.
A remembrance and celebration of life will be held at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN on July 12,2025, for family and friends of James and his family. Visitation will start at 2:00 pm and remarks from Minister Mark Stephenson will begin at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Union Grove Church of Christ in Jimmy's name.
You are invited to share a personal memory of Jimmy or your condolences with his family at his online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland and the Cody family are honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
