James Marvin
Siler SR
Aug 9, 1952 — Aug 15, 2026
Friday
Meigs Memorial Gardens
11:00 am - 12:00 pm (Eastern time)
James Marvin Siler Sr, 74, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2026.
Marvin was a man of many talents and passions. He had a deep love for pistols and was often affectionately referred to as an old Western gunslinger. He especially enjoyed watching Western movies and sharing stories of his life. Marvin was also a talented singer, guitarist, and songwriter who enjoyed writing and recording his own music.
He was an ordained minister and had a genuine desire to share his faith with everyone he met. Marvin never considered himself a complainer-except, perhaps, when it came time to go to the hospital. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved telling stories about his life, often leaving those around him laughing. His stories, music, faith, and unique personality will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Marvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pamela Siler; his parents, Virgil and Doris Siler; and his brothers, Melvin, Vernon, and Tommy Siler.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, James Siler Jr., Darlene (James) Hardy, and Jason (Lindsey) Siler; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his special caregiver, Ms. Lee; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Amber Stiner with Hospice of Chattanooga for the compassionate care and support she provided to Marvin and his family during this time.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Meigs Memorial Gardens, 20054 State Hwy 58 N, Decatur, TN, with Pastor Justin Payne officiating.
You are encouraged to share a memory of Marvin and extend your condolences to his family by visiting his memorial page and guestbook at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home of Athens and the Cody family are honored to assist with these arrangements.
