Listen to Obituary

It is with grieving hearts we announce the passing of my brother, Jim Mosher, from life on earth to eternal glory, but we rejoice that he is in the presence of the Lord.

Jim was a lifelong Presbyterian. His membership began at Colonial Village United Presbyterian Church, Niagara Falls, NY. During his high school and college years, he was a member of the First Presbyterian in Cleveland, TN. During his career years he attended the Presbyterian Church in Madison, NJ, and in his retirement he belonged to the First Presbyterian Church of Gouveneur, NY, the church he had been baptized in as an infant, and where he served as an Elder and Sunday School teacher for the last 30 years.

Jim was a graduate of Bradley High School (class of '63), Tennessee Wesleyan College, Athens, Tennessee, and Drew University, Madison, NJ, where he earned a Masters degree in Divinity. After graduate school Jim worked a variety of jobs, one as an assistant pastor, and another in Brentano's bookstore in New York City. Eventually he was able to use his education and gifts in the field of occupational rehabilitation and became the director of a facility funded by Easter Seals in Livingston, NJ. He was honored to serve as chairperson of Access NJ and to be a member of the Governor's Task Force on disabilities. He spent his last two professional years as an independent consultant.

Jim retired early in his 50's to Gouveneur, NY, to pursue what he loved; gardening, listening to Detroit Tigers' games on the radio, befriending the Amish, stamp collecting, church work and life in the hometown of his parents, Hugh and Barbara Bame Mosher, who proceeded him in death. He was the grandson of Hannah Jones Mosher and Ruth Aldrich Bame, lifetime residents of Gouveneur, NY. He is survived by his sister, Jeanne Mosher Badgett, his brother in law, Greg Badgett, two nephews, James and John Badgett, an aunt, Dorothy Bame Best, and many cousins and dear friends. He will be dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held April 9, at 2 PM, at the First Presbyterian Church, Cleveland, TN. There will be a graveside service in June in Hailesboro, NY, where he will be buried next to his mother and father, and in the company of aunts, uncles, and cousin.

You are invited to share a personal memory of Jim or your condolences with his family at his online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland and the Cody family are honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
