James "Clinton" Moser

February 10, 1941 — May 30, 2025

James Clinton Moser of Cleveland, Tennessee peacefully passed away on May 30th after a long illness. Born in Madisonville, TN on February 10, 1941, he is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Joyce Masoner Moser; children, Robin (Frankie) Tallent, Jeff (Sharon) Moser, Tracy (Jeff) Dawson; his identical twin brother, Linton (Jane) Moser; brother, Jimmy Moser; step brother, Jerry (Mary Anne) Cagle; grandchildren, Jeffery (Taylor) Dawson, Harrison (Hannah) Moser, Ethan (Alisha) Dawson, Andrew Moser, Emily Dawson; step-mother, Blonnie Moser; great grandchildren, Arianna, Ayden, Kaden, Harper, Emmie, Harper, Archer, Bowman and Caroline.

He was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth Cagle; father, Robert Moser; step father, Marshall Cagle; brothers, Eddie and Bobby Moser; step-son, Tim Masoner; grandson, Aaron Dawson; and son-in-law, Mike Melton.

A graduate of Madisonville High School he was a member of the Beta Club and played football all four years. With his brother Linton, they have been recognized as two of the toughest players to play for the Tornados. He earned his Eagle Scout Award in Troop 100 in Madisonville and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was on the very first camp staff of Camp Buck Toms in Rockwood, TN. After high school, he had an over forty-three year career at Bowater Paper Company.

He served his community as a member and a term as President of the Sweetwater Jaycee's and was a member of the Optimist Club where he served as an assistant football coach for several years. Throughout his life he enjoyed the outdoors, boating, hunting and music. He was a member of four "garage" bands and one variety band, The Roaring 50's, playing for nursing homes and church groups.

In retirement, he increased his time flat water kayaking with a group of friends and they would be on the water at least once a week ten months a year. He also loved to tinker with old cars and make homemade salsa.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 4th at 7:00pm at Companion Funeral and Cremation Service, 400 S. White Street, Athens, TN 37303, with Pastor Scott Duckworth officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm. A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, June 5th at Sunset Cemetery 547 Sunset Drive, Madisonville, TN 37354.
