James Edward Moore, 77, of Englewood, passed away peacefully at home on August 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
James proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, earning both the Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals. He continued his career as an Army Engineer and went on to earn a degree in engineering and certification as an instrument foreman. He later earned his bachelor's degree in organizational management from Tusculum College.
James worked as an engineer at Bowater, where he retired after 23 years of dedicated service. He also shared his knowledge as an instructor with BE&K Engineering Construction.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and lived his life with quiet strength, love for his family, and a strong sense of duty.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Preceded in death by father, Bruce Moore; mother, Aloha Hartenns; brother, Jerry Moore; and son, Aaron Edward Moore.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Brenda Moore; sons, Eric Moore and Jared Moore; daughters, Elisa Moore Cochran and husband, Brian, and Elaine Phipps and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Ryan Moore, Patrick Cochran, Abe Moore, Jenna Grace Patty, Kailynn Phipps, Morgan Phipps; great grandchildren, Averly West; and many other loved family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Athens, TN at 1:00pm. A Visitation will be held prior from 11:00am - 1:00pm. A Military Graveside Service will follow the service at Mars Hill Cemetery in Englewood, TN.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Companion Funeral Home to help pay final expenses.
