James (Jim) Gilbert Goodner

After a long life, well-lived, James (Jim) Gilbert Goodner, 82, of Cleveland, TN, passed peacefully
on Sunday, December 27, 2020.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Kay (Morrow) Goodner, siblings Stella
Cannon, Sue Johnson, and Mike Goodner. He is survived by his sister Nan (Charles) Burke and several in-
laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved him dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joye (Hamilton) Goodner. Children, David (Angela)
Goodner and Joel (Kristy) Goodner; grandchildren, Blake (Chandler) Goodner, Nicole (Cory) Talbott,
Shelby (Alec) Davis, Memphis Powell, and Knox Goodner; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Marshall, and
Blakely Goodner, Marley Flowers, Lilly Talbott, and McKenna Lee Davis.
Jim was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was
employed with Olin Corporation for 37-years. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying coon hunting and
fishing. Upon retirement, Jim enjoyed his breakfast at Hardees’ where he developed a special friendship
with Rick and Brenda Spraker and many others.
Due to current COVID conditions, a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date for his
family and friends to remember his contagious smile, laughter, and love.
