James Culey

James Culey, 53, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022. Originally from Indianapolis, IN, he was a resident of Cleveland, TN, for 42 years.

He loved writing and authored several books. He enjoyed cycling and even rode from Cleveland to Knoxville. His favorite game was Dungeons & Dragons—a game he enjoyed since middle school.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Culey and Bonnie Kitchen Culey, and his grandparents: Moses and Grace Kitchen, James B. Culey, and Elsie Whatenby.

He leaves behind to treasure his memory, his siblings: Erna Fella, Vickie Smith, Karen Helton, and Martha Griffith; nephews: Ryan Kertesz, Shawn Kertesz, Erin Fella, Evan Fella, and Vance Griffith; and nieces, Alicia Mulbarak, Amy Helton, Amelia Walters, and Jennifer Griffith.

There will be a Memorial Service to honor James on Tuesday, May 31, 11am-1pm at B&B Marina—117 Marina Dr NW, Charleston, TN 37310.
