Hazel Jeanette Spurling

Hazel Jeanette Spurling, 84, of Athens, TN went home to be with the Lord on April 27, 2026.

Hazel had been fighting to get better from a fall back in August and it got the better of her along with her dementia. She was the best Mom, Mamaw, Sister, Daughter, Wife, and Best Friend that anyone could have known. Mom loved everyone and never judged anyone. She will be truly missed by anyone who has ever met her. She always seen the good in everyone.
She was a firm believer in Christ and had so much faith in God. She loved going to her church, Athens Free Saints True Holiness Church, and she loved everyone at her church.

Preceded in death by her late husband, Jake Spurling; daughter, Nina D Jeffreys; grandbaby, Jason Lance Jeffreys; brothers, Buddy McConkey, Warren McConkey, and Jerry McConkey; sisters, Jane McConkey, and Helen McConkey; parents, Mildred and Douglas McConkey.

Survivors include her daughters, Diane Wright and Lisa (Shane) Hafley; son, Tracy Spurling; brother, Tim (Sandy) McConkey; several grandkids and great grandkids whom she loved very much.

We would like to thank Adoration Hospice for the end of life care for Mom. We appreciated all that you did to make her comfortable. I would also like to thank my best friend, Ann Benson, for always being here for me when I've needed her.
