Hazel Louise Poole

Hazel Louise Maye Poole, 84, died Monday, August 3, 2026, at her home in Sale Creek, TN. She was born October 3, 1941, in Sale Creek to Tillman Maye and Jewell Lee Hope. She was a graduate of Sale Creek School Class of 1959.

Hazel had several jobs in her life but the one that she enjoyed the most was driving the Special Needs bus for Hamilton County Department of Education.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, where she often imparted her wisdom. She enjoyed spending time caring for her flower gardens and watching the wildlife.

She was preceded in death by her parents Tillman and Jewell Maye, husband Frank Poole and siblings Maude Wright, Easter Maye, Dewey Maye and Connie Cooper.

She is survived by her sons John (Kim) Oakley, Tony (Regina) Poole, Todd (Jeanette) Poole and Troy (Tammy) Poole. Siblings Trina Foster and Robert Sutton. Grandchildren Carla Oakley, Caleb (Michelle) Hickman, Alex (Payton) Poole, Cody (Megan) Poole, Casey Poole, Ashleigh Poole and Lexie Poole. Great grandchildren Treyton Poole, Maylin Poole, Dallas Poole, Kensley Poole, Tuesday Hammon, Kenna Stracner, and Rhonda Hickman. Many nieces and nephews, and her lifelong friend Sandy Gary.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 2pm - 5pm at the Sale Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
