Harvey J. Chastain, age 88, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on June 8, 2026. While his family grieves his absence, they rejoice in knowing that he is now experiencing the greatest reunion of all-embraced once again by his beloved wife, Charlene, and his son, Terry, whom he missed dearly.

Harvey was born on February 23, 1938, to Morris and Ruby Chastain. He graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1957 and went on to build a successful career as a Quality Analyst at Olin Chemical, where he worked faithfully for many years before retirement.

A man of deep faith and unwavering conviction, Harvey dedicated his life to serving the Lord and his family. On August 20, 1972, he was ordained as a Deacon at Hopewell Baptist Church, a role he fulfilled with humility, integrity, and servant-hearted devotion. He also faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher and Royal Ambassadors leader, investing in the lives of countless young people and sharing the truths of God's Word through both teaching and example.

Harvey was a humble man of few words, but when he spoke, people listened. His wisdom was not found in grand speeches but in the steady guidance, practical advice, and quiet acts of service that defined his life. He possessed a strong work ethic, unwavering character, and a heart that always sought to put others before himself.

Above all else, Harvey's greatest priority was his family. Everything he did was centered around providing for, caring for, and loving those he held dear. He understood that the most valuable inheritance one can leave is not measured in possessions, but in faith, character, and love. His greatest desire was to leave a legacy that pointed his family toward Jesus Christ, and that legacy will continue for generations to come.

Harvey found joy in life's simple blessings. He loved fishing, camping, and boating, especially when he could share those experiences with family and friends. He rarely wanted to go alone; his greatest enjoyment came from taking others along for the adventure. And as his family knows well, every good trip seemed to begin with breakfast at Hardee's before heading out to make memories together.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlene Chastain; his son, Terry Chastain; his parents, Morris and Ruby Chastain; and his brothers, Dewey Chastain and Danny Chastain.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Todd Chastain and wife Jill; grandson Aaron Chastain and wife Lizzie; granddaughter Laura Dye and husband Patrick; great-grandchildren Braeden Dye and Ella Dye; sister Zora Chastain; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Though Harvey's earthly journey has ended, the impact of his life remains. His family will remember a man who loved deeply, served faithfully, worked diligently, and lived humbly. Most importantly, they will remember a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose life consistently pointed others to Christ.

The family takes comfort in knowing that one day they will see him again. Until then, they celebrate a life well lived and a legacy well left.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23

In Lieu of flowers, as a reflection of Harvey's belief in leaving a lasting legacy for future generations, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Chastain and Hendrix Family Endowed Scholarship at Berry College in lieu of flowers. Donations may be made at AlwaysBerry.com by selecting "Give Online," choosing "Other Fund," and entering "The Chastain and Hendrix Family Endowed Scholarship" in the description field.
