Listen to Obituary

Gloria Eve Petersen Moser, 47, flew away peacefully to Heaven on November 12, 2025, from her home in Cleveland, Tennessee, surrounded by loved ones, after a brief but brave battle with pancreatic cancer. Gloria was born June 12, 1978, in Huntsville, Texas, to Howard Petersen and Glenda Trapp Petersen. The young family moved from Texas to Tennessee in 1984 for her dad to teach music and band at Lee University. Gloria was always proud of her roots as a native Texan.

Gloria had an unshakeable faith in God. Many have said, "To know her was to love her." She had a quiet, kind demeanor. She was thoughtful, genuine, considerate of others, and a true friend maker, especially to the downtrodden. She had an understated elegance. She had an unmatched tenacity for problem solving. She fought her cancer with a vengeance. A motto that fits her is "Where there's a will, there's a way.".

Gloria was predeceased by her grandparents, Bert and May Trapp and Hollis E. and Betty Petersen; grandmommy Lois Greenwell; aunt and uncle Hollis D. and Sharon Petersen; cousins Leonard and Steven Petersen; and aunt Linda Ann Mason. Most significant and life-changing, was the devastating loss of her son Grayson Moser in 2021 at the age of 16 to brain cancer.

Gloria and Chris Moser met in geometry class in high school and were high school sweethearts. They married on August 28, 1999, and were happily married for 26 years. She is survived and grieved by her devoted husband Chris and their 18-year-old son Christian Moser. Also grieving are her parents, Glenda Goodwin (husband Allen) and Howard Petersen (wife Brenda); sister Geneva Kent (partner Adam Martinez); Geneva's children, Noah, Eleanor, and Charlie; step-sister Laura Sargent (husband Elliot) and their children, Lucian and Luna; step-brother Jack Goodwin; mother-in-law Gail Moser, brother-in-law Denny Moser; father-in-law Gary Moser (wife Jane); aunts, uncles and cousins; plus many more extended family members too extensive to list. Gloria loved attending family reunions and keeping in touch with family.

Gloria was in the Color Guard throughout high school and became rifle captain. She loved being in the Girl Scouts for nine years. She was interested in modeling as a teen and modeled for fashion shows. After graduation from Cleveland High School in 1996, she was initially uncertain of her career path and considered several fields before finding her niche that she was perfectly suited for-accounting! She earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2000. She was an accountant for the City of Cleveland for six years and a senior accountant for Life Care Centers of America corporate office for ten years. Her most recent position was part-time accountant for Bradley Tank and Pipe.

Gloria's current hobbies included running (with three half-marathons under her belt), flower gardening, and nature photography. She loved camping, event planning, and traveling. But her greatest delight was being a devoted mom to two sons. She was the classic soccer mom, with the boys in numerous sports, organizations, and church...always church. She chaperoned school field trips and planned many adventures and excursions for the boys.

Her family's life was forever altered when their older son Grayson was diagnosed with an incurable, aggressive brain cancer in 2019. This experience fueled her passion to become a pediatric cancer advocate as she searched for a purpose through the heartache. She and Chris established The Grayson Foundation that financially assists families who have a child in cancer treatment to help ease the financial drain of cancer treatment. The foundation also awards college scholarships to Cleveland High School students. She was a member of local, state, and national organizations as a childhood cancer advocate. In the past year, she overcame her fear of public speaking (she gave God the credit) and spoke on radio, television, and at community club meetings to bring awareness to childhood cancer. Gloria encourages you to become an organ donor and a blood donor, both of which can help cancer patients.

Gloria's request is that in lieu of flowers or plants you consider a donation in her memory to one of the following:

· The Grayson Foundation (directions on TheGraysonFoundation.net)

· The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN)

· The GoFundMe on Facebook, "Support Gloria's Fight Against Pancreatic Cancer"

· First Baptist Cleveland, Tennessee, Generations Building Fund

Gloria pleads with Tennessee residents to go to the American Childhood Cancer Organization website and pre-order a Tennessee specialty license plate to bring awareness to pediatric cancer. Many other states have such a specialty plate, but not Tennessee. There are already 572 plates ordered, but they must reach the minimum order of 1000 plates by the deadline of January 6, 2026, or the state will not produce the plates.

Gloria's family will receive friends from 2pm until 6pm on Friday November 21st at First Baptist Church located at 1275 Stuart Road NE, Cleveland, TN 37312. A celebration of Gloria's life will follow the visitation at 6pm. The Celebration of Life will be live streamed and a link will be present on Gloria's Obituary Page. She will be laid to rest at Lee Cemetery.

Brian Workman, Bob McCay, Shane Clark, Jay Chapman, Adam Richardson and Jeremy Fletcher will be serving as pallbearers.
