Our family lost a true original on September 30, 2025, when Gloria Hewitt passed away at the age of 81. Gloria was many things-sweet, sassy, funny, and endlessly loving-and she left her mark on every person fortunate enough to know her.
Born on January 11, 1944, in Cleveland, TN, to Alvin and Pansy Poe, Gloria grew up with a spark that never dimmed. She had a quick wit, a sharp sense of humor, and a gift for telling it like it was-always with love, and often with a laugh. Her sass kept us on our toes, and her warmth kept us close.
Gloria loved her family fiercely, and nothing brought her greater joy than time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her many other cherished family members and friends. Whether she was offering advice, slipping in a perfectly timed joke, or giving one of her famous hugs, Gloria had a way of making everyone feel special.
Her passions reflected her vibrant spirit-camping, swimming, bonfires, and riding in the mountains were among her favorites. Gloria was also one of Jehovah's Witnesses and found joy in helping others learn Bible truths over many years of faithful service.
Gloria will be deeply missed by her devoted husband of 65 years, Buddy Hewitt; her daughters Rebecca Moore, Leslie Swift (Richard), and Trena Bailey (Jeff); her son, Keven Hewitt (Kim); her daughter-in-law Paula; her grandchildren Lara Moore, Sarah Swift, and Haley Buckner; as well as countless other family members, siblings, nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. Each of them will carry forward her humor, love, and sass in their own lives. She now rests in Jehovah God's memory, alongside her beloved son Scott Hewitt, awaiting the resurrection to perfect life on a paradise earth.
A celebration of Gloria's life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 4:30 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3067 Spring Place Rd., Cleveland, TN. The family warmly invites all friends and loved ones to gather, share stories, laughter, and memories-just the way Gloria would have wanted.
Though she is no longer with us, we will always hear her voice in our hearts-sometimes sweet, sometimes sassy, but always overflowing with love.
