Glenda Smith

Glenda Alene Smith, age 76, of Cleveland, TN went home to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday morning December 30, 2025 surrounded by her family at home.

She was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother. She had a huge heart and loved helping others. She spent most of her life working at the carpet mills in Dalton, GA where she retired after more than 20 years of service at Collins and Aikman.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Dwight Smith; parents, Maggie and Willie Shepherd; brothers, Harold, Cecil, and Raymond Shepherd; sisters, Barbara Pritchett, and Willene Toomey.

She is survived by her two sons, Chris (Tammy) Smith, and Justin (Amanda) Smith; three granddaughters, Christine Smith, Jessica Smith, and Hannah Cantrell; two grandsons, Trenton and Xander Cantrell; two great grandchildren, Tinley and Stetson Smith; brother, Granville Shepherd; sister, Edna Wheeler; sister-in-laws, Brenda Smith and Teresa Smith; special nephew, Ronnie Shepherd; special friends, Debbie Bowman, Sandra (David) Benton, and Nelia Wandersleben;

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Krueger and her staff at Tennessee Oncology. Her special nurse from Adoration Hospice Kirby Gladson. A special thanks to all the friends and family that called, sent flowers, and visited during her time of sickness.

The family will have a visitation on Tuesday January 6, 2025 from 12:00-2:00 pm at the Ridge Chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2412 Georgetown Rd. NW Cleveland, TN 37311 with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor James Jackson officiating. She will be laid to rest at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with Justin Smith, Matt Smith, Ronnie Shepherd, Tim Shepherd, Jimmie Greene, Xander Cantrell, and Trenton Cantrell serving as pallbearers.
