Gladys Marscell Clayton, born July 3, 1942, passed away on the evening of September 8, 2025 peacefully surrounded by family.
Native of Cleveland TN, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, teacher, friend and most pridefully grandmother. Member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, where she gave tirelessly to organizing and providing for her beloved Spice of Life group.
Proceeded in death by late husband Charles Ray "Tony" Clayton
Leaving 4 kids: Daughter-Anita Zarrabi and husband Ramin Zarrabi of Webb City, MO, Daughter -Carol Young and husband David Young of Cleveland, TN, Daughter- Beth Downey and Husband Chris Downey of Brandon, MS, Son- Gary Clayton and wife Kim Clayton of Knoxville, TN.
Brothers and sister- Melvin and wife Carolyn Chastain, Lynn Chastain and Karen Polson, Janice and husband Jesse Webb, deceased- Jerry and wife Brenda Chastain.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy - CJ Downey, Cortnee Bunch, Kayleigh Hudson, Taylor Bibee, Dalton Zarrabi, Dylan Zarrabi, Riley Clayton, Reid Clayton.
Her great-grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy- Lennox Downey, Lilah Downey, Toni Rae Hudson, Ellie Zarrabi, Ember Zarrabi, Charlee Bunch, Walker Bibee, Addison Bibee
She is also lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews: Brian Chastain, Jennifer Wilson, Marcie Doll, Kimberly Webb, Tracy Dunwoody, Ethan Chastain, Jan Hudgins, Karen Kirk, Brent Clayton, Lisa Clayton, deceased Gary Trimm, John Michael Clayton
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 20, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 3405 Peerless Road, Cleveland, TN. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. After the service, interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 1700 South Ocoee Street, Cleveland, TN.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in support of the Spice of Life group.
