George Jeffrey "Jeff" Smith

George Jeffrey "Jeff" Smith, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 17, 2025.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Kathy Smith; their children, Alice Smith, Katie Wise (Jason), and Bradley Smith; and his cherished granddaughter, Sullivan Jane Wise. He is also survived by his two sisters, Nancy Brown (Carl) and Mary McGriff (Ron), as well as his beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret Smith.

Jeff was a longtime member of Candies Creek Baptist Church, where he found joy in worship and serving alongside his church family. A true Southern soul, he loved Georgia football, traveling, and fishing-especially when those moments were shared with the people he loved most.

Jeff will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He was an alum of North Georgia University. He retired as a controller from Georgia Pacific and LambCon, both of Cleveland. In his retirement, he continued to serve others by volunteering in disaster relief efforts through the CrossNet Baptist Network.

Above all, Jeff was a devoted husband and father. He never missed a chance to toss a baseball, cast a line, or remind his children, "Always your friend, always your buddy."

His legacy of love, laughter, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
