George Douglas Monroe, 71, of Powell, TN, passed away on August 9, 2026. He was born on July 6,1955 in Orange Beach, California to Jack and Helen (Henderson) Monroe. For most of his career, he was in the golfing industry and management. After retirement, George enjoyed being the camp host at Cherokee Point Campground in Ten Mile, TN
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Monroe; brother, David Monroe and a nephew, John David Monroe.
George is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Aleta Daugherty Monroe of Englewood, Tn; children, Douglas (Michelle) Monroe of Nashville, TN, Katie (Glenn Wills) of Westminister, CO, Jake (Sarah) Whatley of Englewood, TN, Lindsey (Ben) Jardet of Powell, TN; grandchildren, Nathan Monroe of Red Bluff, CA, Chance Monroe of Thornton, CO, Knox Furlong of Powell, TN, Corbin, Reid, and Abram Whatley of Englewood, TN, Boden Jardet of Powell, TN; mother, Helen Monroe and sister, Margie Monroe of Siler City, NC; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
A Grave Side service of cremains will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 am at Sunrise Cemetery, 121 County Road 430, Englewood, TN 37329-5004. In lieu of live flowers, the family requests a donation to the Mysthenia Gravis Foundation of America, https://myasthenia.givevirtuous.org/donate/donation-form
