George Travis Griffice, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the age of 49. On that day, he entered into the Presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Travis was a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, and friend whose kindness, humor and generous spirit touched the lives of many. He loved deeply and was loved by all who knew him.
For the last 14 months of his life, Travis fought courageously to overcome addiction. He embraced recovery with determination, hope, and strength, inspiring others through his commitment to building a better life. Those who walked beside him witnessed his growth, his resilience and the genuine joy he found in sobriety. His recovery journey was a testament to his courage and his desire to make each day count.
Though his time was cut short, his family finds comfort in knowing that he worked hard to reclaim his life and was proud of the progress he had made. His story reminds us that recovery is possible, that hope is real and that every day of sobriety is a victory worth celebrating.
Travis was proceeded in death by his Loving Mother, Mrs. Deborah Ann Reese Griffice. What a reunion day that was for him. They are walking the streets of gold together and worshipping in the Presence of Jehovah.
He was also proceeded in death by His Grandparents, George Willis and Thelma Jane Griffice and John Lester and Marguerite Dyke Reese.
Travis leaves behind his loving family. His Father, George "Bill" Griffice, His Sweet Daughter who was The Love of His Life, Southern Reign, Proud Sister and Brother In Law, Deedra and Glenn Hughes, Niece and Nephew, Reese and Carson Hughes, along with extended family and countless friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
A celebration of Travis's life will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026 at Savannah Bay Baptist Church, 8018 Ooltewah Georgetown Rd, Ooltewah, TN 37363 with visitation with family starting at 6:00 P.M. and a service beginning at 7:00 P.M. Even in passing, Travis continued to give the gift of life. Through the selfless decision to become an organ donor, he provided hope, healing and a second chance to others in need. This final act of generosity reflected the kindness, compassion and caring spirit that he shared throughout life. While our hearts mourn the loss of someone so deeply loved, we find comfort in knowing that a part of Travis's legacy lives on in the lives touched and saved through organ donation.
We will forever cherish the memories, laughter and love he leaves behind. His spirit will remain in all of our hearts always.
