George Wesley Brackett, 66, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025.

Born on October 30, 1958, George was a man of strong faith, belonging to the Church of God of the Union Assembly. Throughout his life, he was known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and deep love for his family.

In his younger years, George found joy working on cars and trucks-his hands were rarely still, always turning a wrench or bringing something back to life. As the years went by, he channeled that same passion into model cars and trucks, never losing his love for craftsmanship. He also enjoyed spending time in the yard, taking long, thoughtful drives, and going on trips that gave him time to reflect and enjoy life's journey.

George is preceded in death by his parents, J.D. Brackett and Mandy Floyd; sister, Cindy Brackett-Lackey; and brothers, Jesse Brackett and Eddie Floyd.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Moses Brackett, who was the light of his life and the one to whom he always said, "I love you around the world and back again." He also leaves behind his son, Joseph Wesley Brackett; step-son, Michael Ray Moses; daughter, Melodie Brackett Cross; siblings, Helen Allen, Joan Pettite, and Gene Floyd; step-brother, Roger Floyd; and step-sister, Rebecca Sharp. George was a proud grandfather to Caleb Cross, Kylie Cross, and Avery Brackett, who brought him immense joy and pride.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for prayers during this time of loss.

George will be dearly missed and forever remembered for his warmth, his quiet strength, and the unconditional love he gave to those around him.
