Listen to Obituary

Gary William Fritchman, 67, passed away at home on September 26, 2025, in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Born on March 23, 1958, in Michigan, Gary was a proud retired military man and longtime mail carrier. He was known for his sharp wit, unfiltered honesty, and his unapologetically, one-of-a-kind personality. He often said what others were only thinking-and sometimes what no one was thinking at all. If you knew him, you knew: Gary was an acquired taste, and he liked it that way.

Gary was a true Jack of all Trades. He took pride in his meticulous lawn, spotless fish tanks, and perfectly tended garden. His attention to detail (often bordering on OCD) was matched only by his love of a good prank, a better story, and intense stubbornness.

Though not always easy to read, Gary had a soft side that shone through in moments of humor, unexpected tenderness, and quick-witted charm. He was sensitive, funny, a prankster, and always ready for a party. He enjoyed his group chat with his buddies, rooting for the Detroit Lions (for better or worse), U of M sports, watching golf, nascar, General Hospital, and A&E.

He is survived by Karen Fritchman, Shay Moore, Heather Bonnell, Sean Fritchman, Destinee Evans, ZaK Hutchinson, Dezire Fritchman, and Zayce Bonnell-his family and closest friends who knew and loved him exactly as he was.

In true Gary fashion, he went out with a bang-no apologies, no filter, and on his own terms. His stories, quirks, and unforgettable presence will live on in the hearts of those who truly knew him.

The family will be receiving friends for a visitation at the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2415 Georgetown Rd. Cleveland, TN 37311 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm on Friday October 3, 2025. Burial to follow at 2:00 pm at the Chattanooga National Cemetery 1200 Bailey Ave. Chattanooga, TN 37404.

In Lieu of Flowers, Succulent plants, Donations to the American Cancer Association (He had Lung, Eye, and Skin Cancer), or just be present would be sincerely appreciated.
