Eva Jean Gates

Eva Jean Woody Gates, 66, passed away on October 15, 2026. She was born to Bob Woody and Myra McKenzie on May 7, 1960.

Eva was preceded in death by her father and her mother; stepfather Hubert; her precious daughter Carrie Nicole Harris; brother Robbie Woody; sister Roberta Brianne; niece Lola Roblero; companion Jerry Adams; and her beloved dog Sweety.

Eva is survived by her Aunt Brenda Carver; her sisters Phyllis Scott, Edna (Don) Scott, Betty (Earl) Boring, and Connie Riddle; husband Pete Gates; stepdaughter Jennifer Bravo; grandchildren Lidia and Benjamin. And many, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Eva also had a passion for music and loved playing the piano or guitar at family gatherings. Eva also enjoyed spending time cooking, and everyone had a favorite recipe.

Eva was a beautiful, kind-hearted, and soft-spoken lady with a gentle spirit. Always smiling and laughing and would brighten up any room she entered. Eva was loved by all who knew her. And she loved everyone in return. She was always willing to help anyone in need, graciously providing a warm bed and hot meal. And Eva was more than an aunt to her nieces and nephews. For many, she was like a second mother, a safe haven, a guiding light.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date at Ceder Springs Baptist Church, officiated by Homer Roberts.
