Listen to Obituary

The youngest daughter of Henry E. Witt and Lydia Wilson Witt, Eunice was born on June 14, 1937, and went to be with her Lord on November 3, 2025.

She was a lifelong sports enthusiast -- whether playing basketball or softball or cheering for the Atlanta Braves, the Indiana Fever, and all things Tennessee Vols, including following her favorite players into their professional careers. She especially enjoyed supporting any athlete with a family connection.

She had a true gift of hospitality--her door was always open. No one ever entered her home without being encouraged to enjoy whatever she had just prepared. First-time guests were often amazed to find homemade dishes covering every inch of the table, each one crafted with care and joy. An exceptional cook, she shared both her meals and her heart generously with everyone around her. To be welcomed by her was to feel deeply loved.

Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting aroma of her cooking. She never forgot what you loved-your favorites were always waiting on the table. She left her family a lasting legacy of opening their homes and hearts to others just as she had done for countless friends and loved ones who needed a place to stay, whether for a night or for a season.

She was an active member of Eastanallee Baptist Church for more than thirty years, and also served faithfully at East Athens Baptist Church and Northside Presbyterian Church in Cleveland. Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Lydia Witt; her husbands, Lowell McAllister and Paul Shamblin; siblings Thomas Beecher Leslie, Thomas B. (Bud) Witt, Mamie Lee Monroe (Claude), Affalene Smith (Ray), Maynard Witt, Edward Ray Witt, James J. Witt, and Fannie Monroe (Charles); and her granddaughter, Zo Leach.

She is survived by her daughters Donna S. Kile-Mayton (Steve), Kathy Shamblin (Robin Robertson), Penny Shamblin, and Michelle M Leach Queener (Terry); grandchildren Kristen Kile, Kristopher Kile, Paul Robertson, and Joe Phillips; great-grandchildren Alexis Phillips, Kaeden Phillips, and Kash Kile. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Lucille Witt, Jo Witt, Boni Witt, Susie Witt, and Stella Witt; a plethora of extended family including Tyson Jones, Gabby Jones, and Tanner Lynn; and special friends Willie Bryant, Barb Flemming, and Barb Davis.

Her legacy of love, laughter, and faith will live on through the many lives she touched.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Companion Funeral and Cremation, 653 Briarcliff Avenue, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A brief graveside service will follow at New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, 393 County Road 616, Athens, Tennessee, at 1:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Creasman Chapel at Eastanallee Baptist Church, 2457 County Road 700, Riceville, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Golden Offering for Tennessee Missions-Tennessee Baptist Mission Board or Samaritan's Purse in her memory.
