Eleanor Jean Wery Hanson

Eleanor Jean Wery Hanson, born on April 1, 1935, in Oconto, Wisconsin, peacefully departed this life on April 24, 2026, at the age of 91. Eleanor, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, touched the lives of many during her time as the Director of Student Health Services at Southern Adventist University, where she dedicated herself to nurturing the well-being of students as a Registered Nurse.

Eleanor's life was characterized by a quiet strength and unwavering kindness. She found joy in traveling the world, tending to her beautiful garden, and expressing her creativity through sewing. Her supportive nature and focused disposition left a profound impact on those who were fortunate enough to know her.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence Hanson, her parents, Ferdinand Wery and Alice Ruark Wery.

Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Linda Henning (Volker) and Janine Palm (Kenneth), alongside her cherished grandchildren, Brian Henning (Heather), Joia Henson (Nick), Preston Palm (Olivia), Hayden Palm, and Christian Palm. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Allison Henning, Ashley Henning, Abigail Henson, and Halle Claire Palm.

Family and friends are invited to honor Eleanor's life during a graveside service at Collegedale Memorial Park, which will be held at 10:00 AM on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
