Edgar Reed

On October 11, 2025, God called Edgar Joe Reed home, granting him a peace that surpasses all understanding.

Born on September 9, 1949, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late Samuel Reed and Jimmie Foster, Edgar lived a life marked by warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family. He was a proud graduate of Howard High School, where he built many lifelong friendships and lasting memories.

Those who knew him best remember his kind heart, quick wit, and his ability to make everyone feel seen and cared for. He was truly one of a kind - a man who loved deeply, worked hard, and left behind a lasting legacy of love and strength.

Edgar was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Reed and Robert F. North.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving sister, Mary Reed; his two sons, Paul Montgomery Sr. (Lucretia) and Samuel Reed (Victoria); his daughters, Tiffany Reed, his two cherished daughters; Tara Montgomery and Paula Gill; his nephew, Richard Reed Jr.; and his beloved grandchildren, Paul Montgomery Jr. (Danielle), Malik Montgomery, Mikaesha Montgomery, Samuel George Reed Jr., Daniel Joe Reed, Miracle Mitchell Reed, and Saint Reed, Quantoria Marsh, Quantel Marsh, and Ty'son Reed.

He will also be fondly remembered by his dear friend, Jesse Braswell, as well as a host of extended family members and friends who were blessed to know him.

The family will receive friends on October 18, 2025, at Fellowship of Praise Church of God, located at 931 Inman St. E, Cleveland, TN 37311, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM for visitation, with a funeral service following at 1:00 PM. Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.
