In Loving Memory of Douglas Franklin Roy
February 20, 1938-August 28, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas "Doug" Franklin Roy of Cleveland, TN, on August 28, 2026, at the age of 88.

Doug was born on February 20, 1938, in Ooltewah, TN, to John and Gladys Roy. A devoted Christian and loving family man, he was known for his kindness, sense of humor, and love of baseball.

Throughout his life, Doug umpired high school and college baseball. He also enjoyed a 38-year career with Combustion Engineering before retiring. He was recently inducted into the Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame His life and legacy will be remembered with love by all who knew him.

Doug will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Penny; brother Jim Roy (Mandy), sisters Wanda Ferguson (Jim)and Donna King; daughters, Stephanie Mangenelli (Tony), Pam Anderson ( Andy)and Wendy Cronon (Chuck); and sons, Jaimie Roy (Lisa)and Phillip Roy, ( Linda);several nieces and nephews and several grandkids and great grandkids.

Those who knew Doug will remember his deep love for his family and the warmth he shared with others. The family has much appreciation for loving care Doug received from Chattanooga Hospice of the Cleveland office. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Doug's family will recieve friends from 3pm until 4pm on Tuesday September 1st in the "Ridge Sanctuary" of Companion Funeral & Cremation Service located at 2412 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37311. A memorial service will follow visitation at 4pm.
