Doug was born in Dalton, Georgia but spent most of his life in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He graduated from City High School and went to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He was a Vols fan for life and held season tickets for many years.
Doug is survived by his wife, Janet, and two sons, David Scott Giddings (Angie) and Daniel Seth Giddings (Lizbeth). He has five grandchildren, Erin Giddings, Andrew Giddings, Asher Giddings, and twins, Dhayne and Dhanyella Giddings. He is also survived by his sister, Kathi Giddings Wagner (Les), nephew, David Wagner (Jennifer), and niece Laura Wagner Berg (Barton).
Doug loved to go anywhere - out to eat, visiting friends, bike riding, traveling. He visited a number of national parks. His favorite trips were bicycling trips overseas with his friends, Bob and Jim.
Services will be at Northminster Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:00AM with visitation from 10:00AM – 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church at 4791 Hal Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416, or Newton Child Development Center at 315 Gillespie Road, Chattanooga, TN 37411.
