Doris Elaine Steven, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home November 12, 2025 at 9:45 AM. She was the daughter of the late Leon Earl Fry and Florence Elizabeth Marie Johanna (Jurries) Fry.

Doris was born in Emmetsburg, IA, raised on a farm in Grettinger, IA and when she was a teenager her father obtained the farm in Ruthven. She was married to Milton J Steven on December 4, 1955.

Doris was raised a Methodist but when she was called on by Jehovah's Witnesses back in 1963, she learned from the Bible God's personal name, Jehovah (Matthew 3:17) She began studying the Bible and was Baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on September 24, 1966. Since then she has enjoyed sharing the good news with others and had the opportunity of auxilary pioneering many times over the years.

Doris enjoyed drawing, painting landscapes and loved crocheting afgans for friends and family. She very much loved visiting the mountains to see God's wondrous creations.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Earl Fry and Florence Fry of Ruthven, IA; two sisters, Ruth Sabin and Irene Namer; Grandon Austin Steven of Athens & Great, Great Grandson Rhafel Pride Jr.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Milton J Steven, six siblings: Annette Potter of Fostoria, IA, Lois Heller of Spencer,, IA, Sharon Koenck of Spencer, IA, Leonard Fry of Ruthven, IA, Larry (Sylvia) Fry of Ponca City, OK, and Sandra (Howard) Johnson of Ruthven, IA. Seven children: Patricia (Jeff) Hyde of Decatur, TN, Tony Steven of Decatur, TN, Rodney Steven of Riceville, TN, Tammy (Randy) Cook of Headland, AL, Debra (Tim) Stansberry of Riceville, TN, Steve (Joni) Steven of Athens, TN, Lisa (Robbie) Kyle of Niota, TN, 21 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren , 11 Great, Great Grandchildren & many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 2816 Highway 11 South, Athens, TN 37303 Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 2PM.
