Donnie Jones

Donnie Ed Jones, 72, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025 in a local hospital. Donnie was a simple man who loved to spend time with his family. He enjoyed every phone call and visit a family member would make with him. He loved each one of them dearly.

It was the highlight of his week to attend Shenandoah Baptist Church where he was a faithful member. At Shenandoah, he was affectionately known as "the Candy Man" who always greeted you with a piece of candy and a smile. He made everyone feel welcome and he truly loved the people of Shenandoah Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Viola Jones; and brothers, Charles Cecil Jones, Tom Jones, Perry Jones, and Robert Jones. Survivors include his daughter Susan Peters and her husband Eric of Calhoun, TN; son Scott Jones and his wife Anthea of Normanton, Australia; grandchildren Danielle Midkiff of Yogykarta, Indonesia; Isabelle Jones, Lily Jones, Ginger Jones, and Darcy Jones all of Normanton, Australia ; and Christian Whittmaier of Cleveland, TN; great grandchildren Jaina Midkiff and Alexis Midkiff of Yogykarta, Indonesia; siblings Jeanette Stevison, Glenna Gay, Wanda Smith and her husband Allen all of Cleveland; a very special nephew who was more like a brother Mike Dills of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be receiving friends at 5:00 pm on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Shenandoah Baptist Church, 138 Osment Road SE, Cleveland, TN 37323, with funeral to follow at 7:00 pm. His nephews Brian Gay, Shane Gay, Chris Dills, Tommy Jones, John Terry Jones and Timothy Gay will serve as pallbearers. Ethan Gay will serve as honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shenandoah Baptist Church Building Fund.
