Donald (Billy) Anthony Sims II, 60, unexpectedly passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of honor, service, loyalty, and love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Born on April 17, 1966, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Donald was the beloved son of Diane Bebar Sims and Donald Anthony Sims I. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, whose values of hard work, perseverance, and devotion to family helped shape the remarkable man he became.

Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army, dedicating his life to defending the nation during some of its most significant military operations. His distinguished military career included service in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, as well as Operation Iraqi Freedom, along with numerous other deployments. Following his active military service, Donald continued his commitment to the Army and the nation through a dedicated civilian career with the Department of the Army. Whether in uniform or as a civilian employee, he served with professionalism, integrity, and unwavering dedication, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues, fellow soldiers, and friends alike.

Above all, Donald's greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife and dear friend of 27 years, Kristen E. Clark Sims of Laurel, Maryland, whose love and partnership were the foundation of their life together. In recent weeks, Donald looked forward to a new chapter after purchasing a home in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he was excited to be surrounded by the family who loved him so dearly.

He is also survived by his brother, Brian Christopher Sims of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; his father-in-law, Alex Clark; his sisters-in-law, Robin Griffin and Patsy Clark; and his brothers-in-law, Larry Griffin and Scott Clark. He was preceded in death by his beloved second "mom" and mother-in-law, Betty Clark, whose love and affection meant so much to him over the past 27 years.

Donald was a proud and loving uncle to his cherished nieces and nephew: Alexandra Griffin (Thomas Greer), Tyler Griffin (Rachel), Victoria Griffin, Isabella Griffin, Kristen Clark, Abby Clark, and Rachel Clark. He delighted in their milestones, celebrated their accomplishments, and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. Among the many expressions of love from his family, Alexandra's plan to ask him to join her father in walking her down the aisle at her upcoming wedding would have been one of Donald's greatest honors, a reflection of the special bond they shared.

Outside of his work and service, Donald embraced life with enthusiasm and passion. He was an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast who enjoyed the freedom of the open road. A lifelong and devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved team. Donald had a deep appreciation for sports memorabilia, enjoyed collecting coins, and had a special fondness for German food. His military pride extended far beyond his years of service, as he remained interested in Army history, traditions, and all things Army-related throughout his life.

Donald also leaves behind countless friends, colleagues, fellow soldiers, neighbors, and loved ones whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, generosity, and steadfast friendship. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued, and his loyalty to those he cared about was unmatched.

Donald will be remembered as a devoted husband, a proud soldier, a dedicated public servant, a loving brother and uncle, and a treasured friend. His life was defined by service to his country, commitment to his family, and a deep appreciation for the people and things he loved most.

Though he is no longer with us, his memory will live on through the stories shared, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.

He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
