D.L. Caldwell

D.L. Caldwell, 83, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, August 15, 2025. He was also known by others as Papaw, Poppy C, Bird and Santa Claus. He passed peacefully at his residence with his family and loved ones around him.

He was the son of the late Earnest Caldwell (Doc) and Edna Fincher. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Lorine Caldwell.

He loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He loved squirrel hunting and card playing. He was the owner of Caldwell Construction. It brought him such joy at Christmas time to decorate, play Santa, and hand out little gifts.

He is survived by three daughters- Connie Caldwell, Vickie McCormack, and Sonjia Norman; two sons-in-laws, that he thought of as his own sons- Slick McCormack and Dennie Norman; three grandchildren- Tiffany Hicks (Levi), Chelsey Ashba

(Keifer), and Canyen Norman; six great-grandchildren- Xavier Hicks, Bella Hicks, Karlee Hicks, Camden Hicks, Keely Ashba, and Kylee Ashba. He also is survived by two special friends- Keith White and Howard McClain. All these special people are from Cleveland.

The family would like to extend a thank you to Adoration Home Health and Hearth Hospice for taking great care of our daddy.
