Dewey Max Duvall

Dewey Max Duvall, age 88, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026. Max was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who deeply loved his family, his country, and the simple joys of life.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Ray Duvall and Roy Jackson Duvall; and sisters, Lounell Hampton, Dot Ballew, Doris Pelfrey, Jeanette Bell, and Marie Tarpley.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Shelby Jean Duvall (Verner); brother, Morgan "MG" Duvall; daughters, Linda (Jonathan) Pflug and Donna (Ken) Tarpley; grandsons, David Timothy (Abby) Pflug, Timothy (Rebecca) Pflug, Aaron Tarpley, and Caleb Tarpley; granddaughters, Ann (Marcus) Holiday, Rebecca Tarpley, and Autum (Cannon) Beuchley; as well as eight great-grandchildren.

Max loved his country and treasured the time he spent with his family. He especially enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a deep fascination with nature and enjoyed keeping up with the latest developments in the technology industry. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and the Gaither singers. Max was also very resourceful, teaching himself how to complete many home repairs and even learning to play the banjo on his own.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2026, at Companion Funeral Home - Cleveland Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., with the service to follow at 4:00 p.m., officiated by Jonathan Pflug.
