Dennis Bruce Pizer of Chattanooga, Tennessee, met his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the age of 77, passing away peacefully at home while surrounded by his family. He was born on June 11, 1948, to Plummer and Irene Pizer in Sewickley, PA.
Dennis met his beloved wife, Phyllis, at a school dance. She wore a pin, “Wink, and I’ll do the rest,” so he gave her a wink, and the rest became a lifetime of love. Dennis and Phyllis were married in October 1968 in Chicago, IL, and have stood faithfully by each other’s side for 57 years.
That same year, Dennis enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country for four years with assignments in Guam, Vietnam, and K.I. Sawyer, Michigan. While serving in Michigan, friends began witnessing to him, and it was during that time that he gave his life to Christ.
In 1976, Dennis moved his family to Chattanooga, TN, to attend Tennessee Temple Bible School. He was commissioned in 1983 for mission work in Ontario, Canada, and then later in Leicester, England where he served alongside his beloved family. After returning to Chattanooga in 1990, Dennis continued his carpet business for many years until his love of golf led him to the PGA Tour.
From 2001 to 2007, he was joined by his sister, Donna Schultz, and brother-in-law, Bob Schultz, to operate the Caddy Wagon for the Professional Tour Caddies of America. They traveled across the United States, cooking for and serving caddies and tour professionals. It was during the 2001 Walt Disney Classic that Dennis met his childhood hero, Jack Nicklaus.
Dennis was first and foremost a believer in Jesus Christ and committed his life to serving and witnessing about the good news and hope we have in Him. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was always present at family gatherings, no matter the occasion. Dennis was an avid golfer and cherished his time on the golf course. His laugh stood out in a crowd, his love never failed, and his encouragement was constant.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis; his beloved children, Lisa (Jason) and Jeff (Stephanie); his grandchildren Austin (Jordan), Lauren, and Addison; and his great-grandchildren Timothy, Elliot, and Sullivan. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Leroy (Tricia), Donna (Bob), Jay, and Nancy, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Plummer and Irene Pizer; his brother, Edwin Pizer; and his great-grandchild Benjamin Smith.
