Debra Faye Cranfill King, age 64, gained her heavenly wings on October 4, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Debra was born on December 10, 1961, to the late Johnnie Ray and Virginia "Tootsie" Moses Cranfill. She was a 1980 graduate of Meigs County High School and, after many years of dedicated hard work, retired as a machine operator with Mills Products of Athens.
Debra was a true homebody who found joy in the simple things in life. She especially loved all things chicken-themed and was affectionately known as "Meme" to everyone who knew and loved her. She was of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Ray and Virginia "Tootsie" Cranfill; her husband, John Wayne King; her grandson, Peyton King; and her grandparents, Litton and Orgie Moses and Chet and Florence Cranfill.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Jessica Lowe (Shane); her son, Justin "Bubba" King; her sister, Dewanna Cranfill; and special family members, Annette Holappa and Phil Duna, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Family and Faith Home Care and Hospice of Chattanooga (Athens Team) for the compassion, care, and support they provided to Debra and her family during this time.
A visitation will be held at the Chapel of Companion Funeral and Cremation Service of Athens on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. A graveside service will immediately follow at 2:30 PM at Meigs Memorial Gardens, with Van Elkins officiating.
Debra's memory will live on through the many lives she touched and the love she shared with her family and friends. She is now home, healed and at peace, and reunited with those who went before her.
Companion Funeral & Cremation Service of Athens Staff and the Cody Family are honored to be entrusted with assisting the family during this difficult time.
