Deborah Dianne
Brown
Jan 2, 1953 — Oct 5, 2026
Deborah "Debbie" Dianne Torbett Brown, age 73, of Athens, TN, passed away unexpectedly on October 5, 2026. She was born on January 2, 1953, to the late Ross K. Torbett and Katherine Marie Coleman Torbett.
Debbie was a kind-hearted and generous woman who never hesitated to help anyone in need. She had a heart for giving and would do anything for others without ever expecting anything in return. Her kindness, caring spirit, and love for those around her touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.
Debbie enjoyed thrifting, attending auctions and yard sales, and spending time watching television with her husband, Larry. She especially loved her "Taco Tuesdays" with her daughter, Hollie, and took great pride in her beautiful rose bushes. Debbie was a long-time bus driver for the City of Athens School System, a job she truly enjoyed and one that allowed her to touch the lives of many children throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Marie Torbett; and her brother, Ronnie Torbett.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of almost 56 years, Larry Brown; daughter, Hollie Brown (Steve Carroll); son, Heath Brown (Ariel); sisters, Barbara Hicks and Faye Pilkey (Gene); sister-in-law, Janice Torbett; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews whom she was very fond of and loved dearly. She also leaves behind several extended family members, including numerous in-laws, as well as many friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the Chapel of Companion Funeral and Cremation Service of Athens.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Donnie Dalton. Burial will immediately follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Athens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Heath Brown, Elijah Fox, Steve Carroll, Hayden Carroll, Mike Morrison, and Greg Smith. Gene Queen and Carl Carroll will serve as an honorary pallbearers.
Companion Funeral and Cremation Service of Athens is honored to assist the Brown family during this difficult time.
