David Scoggins

November 17, 1942 — August 13, 2025

David Ray Scoggins, 82, went home to be with the Lord on August 13, 2025, surrounded by the family who loved him dearly.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Glen and Mary Scoggins; in-laws, Arnold and Bonnie Wagner; brothers, Sonny, Bill, and James Scoggins; and sister, Faye Queen.

David leaves behind the love of his life, his devoted wife of 61 years, Ruth Scoggins. Together they built a beautiful family and a lifetime of cherished memories. He is also survived by his children, Michael (Mandy) Scoggins, Michele (Chris) LeFoy, and Kelley (Roger) Thompson; grandchildren, Michael Scoggins II, Ashley (Daniel) McAlister, Blake (Paige) Hooper, Katerra (Amber) Cannon, Olivia LeFoy, Kyra Carr, and Kendra Carr; great-grandchildren, Ethan Scoggins, Alanna Scoggins, June McAlister, Emery Cannon, Mason McAlister, and Steele McAlister; brothers, Rodney, Keith, and Wayne Scoggins; and sister, Glenda Williams. His family was his greatest joy, and he loved them fiercely.

David was a hardworking and faithful man, retiring from both Maytag Corporation and Lee University. For 25 years, he served as a deacon at Waterville Baptist Church, where he gave of himself wholeheartedly, offering his time, his talents, and his heart to serve others. His life was a true example of humility, kindness, and steadfast faith.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Waterville Baptist Church. A memorial service celebrating David's life will follow at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Joe Brooks officiating.
