David Phillip Everts, 91, of Cleveland Tennessee, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026. Dave lived a life centered on faith, family, friendship and service. A man of deep and abiding faith, he was an active member of Bowman Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church for nearly 65 years. Born on April 25, 1934 in Buffalo, New York, Dave grew up in western New York. He Graduated from Union Springs Academy where he met the love of his life, Joan. The couple married in 1952 and began their family in Albany, New York, where their children, Dave Jr., Don, Melody and April were born.
In 1961, they moved to Cleveland, TN, where Dave joined Bishop Baking Company. Cleveland became their beloved home for the next 63 years. In 1964, Dave launched his own career as a food broker and later founded his successful product fundraising company, Candies Lane. Dave enjoyed travel, golf, gardening and the companionship of dogs, but nothing brought him greater joy than time with his family. Those close to him cherished his warm sense of humor, his love of a good story and his hearty laugh. A gifted singer with a beautiful baritone voice, Dave often filled their home with gospel music, accompanied by Joan on the piano.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Alice; brothers Miner, Norman, Ralph and Jim; sister, Gertie; his beloved wife of nearly 68 years, Joan, and his daughter, Melody.
He is survived by his sons; Dave Jr. (Paula) and Don (Judy); daughter, April Nafie (John); son-in law, Bruce Hopson; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Arrangements for a memorial service this summer, will be announced at a later date.
