With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of David Christopher Smith on December 5, 2025.
Dave was born on January 26, 1972, in Mount Clemens and raised in Clawson, Michigan. Those who knew him will forever remember him as a kind, hardworking, and a profoundly caring person. Dave had a passion for cooking and hosting gatherings, he was most happy to extend invitations, host and cook for friends, colleagues and acquaintances. Dave was an exceptional mechanic and welder who could fix anything. He was known for his kindness, willingness to lend a hand and show up for anyone in need. Dave loved with his whole heart, taking great care of his wife and his sweet "foster failure" puppy, Petunia.
Dave is survived by his loving partner of 35 years, Jenny Smith, and his beloved dog, Petunia.
He is also survived by his devoted siblings: Cokie Smith, Pam Markey (Jim), Bo Smith (Trish), Toni Herr (Joel), and Mike Smith (Jen), as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. In addition to his immediate family, Dave was deeply loved by his in-laws, including his mother-in-law, Judy Smith, and his brothers and sisters-in-law: Dave Smith (Daniella), Sue Swinney (Lee), Linda Vance (Richard), and Bill Smith (Judy), with whom he shared a special love and friendship.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Pauline, and his siblings, Ken (Nancy), Steve (Connie), and Pat (Mary).
A celebration of David's life will be held late spring 2026 in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Family and friends are invited to gather to share stories, laughter, memories, and BBQ.
Though he is no longer with us, his legacy will live on in the memories of his kindness and love.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in David's name to the Alone No More Dog Rescue, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization at https://www.paypal.me/ANMdogrescue Alone No More Dog Rescue saved Petunia from euthanasia in Phoenix, AZ, along with hundreds of other dogs.
