Darrell Gaston, 91, a devoted family man, proud Marine, and lifelong outdoorsman known affectionately to many in the neighborhood as "The Mower Man," passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at his home in Cleveland, TN, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 29, 1934 in Cleveland, TN, Darrell was the son of the late David and Elsie Gaston. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, an experience that instilled in him the discipline and patriotism he carried through out his life. Semper Fi.
After his honorable discharge, Darrell returned home and dedicated 39 years of his life as steel fabricator for Magic Chef. Darrell earned a reputation for being able to fix just about anything.
Beyond his family, work, and service, Darrell's passion lay in the great outdoors. He was avid fisherman and hunter who found his greatest peace on the water or in the quiet woods. He loved teaching anyone to cast a line or track a deer, passing on his deep respect for nature and wildlife outdoors.
Darrell is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Imogene Gaston; his children, Phillip Gaston of TN and Kathy Gaston of TN; his grandchildren, April Yoder of MI (Aaron) and Sunni Ellis of FL (Tony); four great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Darrell is survived by his brother, Harold Gaston and sister, Bernice Pierce.
Darrell was cremated, and per his wishes, no service will be held.
