Coy Richard Tinsley, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025 at the the age of 78. Born on June 6, 1947 in Cleveland, TN. Coy, a long-time Cleveland resident, lived a life rich with family, love, and many adventures. As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather he excelled. A man who loved nothing more than spending time on a porch, a boat, or a tractor as long as he was with his family. He served in the United States Army from 1968-1971, and was a Prisoner of War (POW) in Vietnam. After serving for his country, he became a life-long truck driver and retiree from the United States Postal Service after 30 years. Coy is survived by a large, loving family who will miss him deeply. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Tinsley; daughter, Christy Tinsley Carney (Matt Carney); grandson, Spencer Hood (Shannon); granddaughter, Savannah Millard (Matt); and great-grandchildren, Whitman, Boone, Swayze, Wylie, and Ailee. He is also survived by his loving siblings Norma Floyd, Margaret McKamey, Ola Mae Trentham, and Glen Tinsley. He has many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family that were also very special to him. We would also like to acknowledge his wife Dorothy's family, the McDade's and Malone's. He was preceded in death by his parents Roscoe and Juanita Tinsley, and several beloved siblings: Bud Tinsley, Mary Jane Bean, Sue Tinsley, Rob Tinsley, Joe Tinsley, Major Tinsley, Ralph Tinsley, Iona Scoggins, and Frank Tinsley.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 20th, at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Coy's wishes were to be buried at the new National Cemetery coming to Dayton, TN. This will take place at a later date.
