Charlotte Ruth Emerson Powell, age 68, of Charleston, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
She was born to the late Lawrence and Pauline Emerson. Charlotte spent the majority of her life working as a seamstress and took great pride in her work. She attended Five Point Baptist Church in Decatur, Tennessee. Charlotte enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, attending church, and listening to music, especially The Good News Singers, The Carters, and Loretta Lynn. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Celia Recinos; son, Clifford Ray Ricker; sister, Gail Vaughn; and brother, Randy "Moe" Emerson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Shane (Kimberly) Trusley of Decatur, Tennessee; grandchildren, Mikey Trusley of Decatur, Tennessee, Caitlyn (Alberto) Smith of Whitwell, Tennessee, Trinton and Alzea of Grand Rapids, Michigan; great-grandchild, Elena of Whitwell, Tennessee; sister, Joann (Rick) Clowers of Ten Mile, Tennessee; her companion of 30 years, Wayne Bishop of Benton, Tennessee; lifelong friend, Betty Brown of Decatur, TN; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Companion Funeral Home of Athens with visitation from 5:00 p.m. until the service hour. Rev. Stan Cantrell and Rev. Curtis Walden will officiate the service.
The family will hold a private graveside service.
Pallbearers will be Mikey Trusley, Richard Clowers, Rick Clowers, Malachi Clowers, Jacory Clowers, Rickey Spooner, and Jeff Walden.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Charlotte's memory.
