Charlotte "Nana" Pearl Lockwood, age 82, of Athens, passed away on December 15, 2025.
Charlotte had a creative spirit and loved arts and crafts, especially painting. She adored Boston terriers and had three throughout her life. She found great joy in spending time at her "home away from home", Watts Bar Lake. Above all, Charlotte cherished her role as "Nana" and deeply loved her grandchildren.
A strong and determined woman, Charlotte was a devoted single mother who worked her way from a part-time secretary at the Tennessee Valley Authority to an Administrative Officer with the United States Attorney General's Office, where she retired. At a time when such accomplishments were rare for women, especially in the 1980s and 1990s, her achievements were remarkable, and her family is immensely proud of her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Mary Ruth Carroll; her brother, Terry Carroll; and her grandson, Brandon Morgan.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Greg (Kelli) Womac and Scott Lockwood; grandchildren, Emma Lockwood, Taylor Womac, Christopher Webb, Holly Marlowe, and Caitlyn Moran; several great-grandchildren; and her sister, Brenda Brown.
There will be no formal services held at this time.
Companion Funeral Home of Athens, TN and the Cody family are honored to assist Charlotte's family during this difficult time.
