Charles "Chuck" Wehunt, age 66, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026. He was born on July 29, 1959, and was a lifelong resident of Cleveland, known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and the love he shared with everyone around him.
Chuck was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved going to the casino, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed attending church and was a faithful member and usher at Big Springs Baptist Church, where he served with a humble heart for many years. He also volunteered with the Salvation Army and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
He worked as a painter until his retirement and was known for his strong work ethic and dependable nature. Born and raised in Cleveland, Chuck spent a few years living in Bradenton, Florida, before eventually returning home to Tennessee. He enjoyed helping with the family business by collecting rent and was often described as wise, sweet, and deeply loved by everybody who knew him. He never met a stranger and could often be found enjoying a trip to Walmart or relaxing while watching his favorite show, Law & Order.
One of Chuck's greatest joys was the love he helped bring into the lives of others. He met Roger Brewer as a friend and introduced him to his sister, Sharon, creating a marriage that lasted 52 wonderful years-a story that remained close to his heart.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Oliver Wehunt Sr.; his mother, Linda Lou Kennedy; his brother, Ronald Eugene Wehunt; and his beloved wife, Sheila Coleman.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Sharon Ruth Brewer; his brother-in-law, Roger Brewer; his brother, James Wehunt; his sister-in-law, Cheryl Wehunt; his dear friend and sponsor of 30 years, Steve Adams; his close friend, Josh Hartness; his friends from Cameron's; along with multiple nieces, nephews, and many other treasured friends and loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at Companion Funeral Home - Cleveland Chapel on Monday, April 27, 2026. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Dan Malone.
Chuck will be remembered for his wisdom, his sweet soul, and the way he made people feel loved and welcomed. His legacy of kindness, faith, and friendship will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland is honored to assist the Wehunt family with these arrangements.
