Charles "Sonny" Clayton

Charles “Sonny” Clayton, 90, of Dayton, TN, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on May 24, 2022. He was a resident of the New Harmony community atop Dayton Mountain for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing alongside other band members for fundraising benefits in several counties. Sonny was a kind man. He was dedicated to his wife, family, and friends. He was loved by many and will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lake Clayton; his mother, Dora Haney Clayton; sisters: Marie Wilkey, Dorothy “Dot” Higgins Gadd; Pauline Higgins Alft, and Barbara Lamb; and children, Charles “Cuddie” Clayton, Jan Marie Clark, and Joy Ann Roden.
He leaves to treasure his memory his wife, Deborah C. Clayton; stepson, Mike Sullivan; stepdaughter, Stacey McCowan; sister, Patsy “Pat” Culver; grandchildren: Chris Clayton, Eric Clayton, Adam Clayton, Lindsey Roden, Haley Wells, Ashley Clark, Nick Clark, Katie Marie Sullivan, and Kameron Sullivan; several great grandchildren, nieces, great nieces, nephews, and great nephews.
