Jeanette Sessoms

Catherine Jeanette Jones Sessoms, 'Jeanette Sessoms', 83 years old, of Cleveland, TN, went home to live in heaven with Jesus on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 5:58 am. She was a resident of Cleveland, TN for over 60 years.

Jeanette was born in Griffin, GA and lived in Hapeville, GA, just outside of Atlanta, during the early years of her life. She grew up in a loving Christian home as the daughter of Thomas and Annie Belle Jones. Thomas was a godly man who provided for his entire family and faithfully cared for his wife, Annie Belle, during a lengthy illness. Thomas Jones was the worship leader of their church and regularly recited long portions of scripture as he led the congregation in music with his powerful voice. Annie Belle was a loving and caring wife and mother to Jeanette who taught her by example the fine art of practical jokes, mastering the ability to scare the entire family in good fun. Jeanette was the younger sister to Tommy Jones, a master craftsman in his construction job, who worked on some of the most prominent structures in the Atlanta skyline.

Jeanette Jones met Harry Sessoms in the cafeteria of Lee College and life was never again the same. They fell in love with each other, married, and settled into life in Cleveland, TN. Several years into their marriage they were blessed with the gift of their son, Brad Sessoms, who became the joy of their life. Jeanette would often say, "This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased."

Harry and Jeanette Sessoms have been long-time staples of North Cleveland Church of God, faithfully serving in so many areas of ministry it is hard to list them all. They have been mighty prayer warriors, founding the continuing prayer ministry, "The Lamp of the Church", that still meets each Saturday at noon. They have been faithful members of the North Cleveland COG Crusader Choir for over 50 years. Both Harry and Jeanette have spent countless hours praying for others in the altar. They provided impeccable landscaping for the church grounds for decades. Jeanette was elected to serve on the COG Youth Board and faithfully worked with the youth for many years.

Jeanette Sessoms now resides in heaven with her Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Annie Belle Jones, her brother Tommy Jones and wife Betty, as well as other relatives and friends. Her greatest loves apart from Jesus were her surviving family, her husband of 58 years and the love of her life, Harry Sessoms, her son, Brad Sessoms, who she would rightfully brag on endlessly to anyone who would listen, and her daughter-in-law, Karla Sessoms. She leaves behind her nephew Keith Jones and his family, as well as brother-in-law and sister-in-law Perry Sessoms and Suzanne Sessoms Schreckengost and their families. Her greatest desire would be that those of us who have been impacted by her godly example would continue to seek and serve Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of her faith. Jeanette had a 'life of the party gift'. She never met a stranger and used her humor as a tool to witness for Jesus, leaving you in stitches before she led you in a life-altering prayer. She will be deeply missed by countless friends and family until we are together for eternity in the presence of Jesus Christ.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm. Friday, Aug. 7, 2026, in the Dixon Chapel at North Cleveland COG, located at 335 11th St NE, Cleveland, TN 37311. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 6:00 pm with Pastor Mitch Maloney and Pastor Kevin McGlamery officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Real Life Village, a ministry benefiting those who are impacted by living with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as Autism and Down Syndrome.
