Carol Jean Hudson (Mullinax), 89, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at a local nursing facility, with family by her side. Carol was born in Cleveland Tennessee to the late Albert and Averill Mullinax (Schroeder) December 15, 1936.

Carol was raised in La Porte, Indiana where she attended school. As a young girl she enjoyed riding her bike with friends from La Porte to Michigan City. Laying in the sun at the lake was a favorite pastime. She was a majorette in high school and was in a couple parades there. She loved to pose for pictures when she was young. Carol loved to go dancing as a young mother. More than anything her children were always her top priority.

One of Carol's first jobs was at a local ice cream shop in La Porte, Lenick's Dairy, as well as a dress shop called Lerner's. Carol also worked at Allis Chalmer's in La Porte. She worked as a bank teller. She acquired a real estate license which she held in Indiana as well as Tennessee. She enjoyed flipping homes she acquired herself. She transported vehicles across many states for delivery and was a school bus driver in Cleveland Tennessee.

Carol was excellent at sewing as well as crocheting. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing puzzles, playing Yahtzee and UNO with family. Anyone could tell you she absolutely loved sweets, whether eating or making them. Above all else her favorite was ice cream!

Carol was always helpful to her neighbors whether taking them food, groceries or something sweet she made. She had a giving nature. One thing she never failed to do was send birthday or Christmas cards to her neighbors, friends, family, children and grandchildren. It brought her great joy! Carol loved them all unconditionally.

Carol put her faith in the Lord to bring her and her family through life.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Gail Munoz (Mullinax), Helen Millican (Mullinax); brother-in-law Emry Millican, sister Margaret James (Gribble); daughter-in-law Veronica (Ronnie) Cook; brother-in-law Thomas Nablo and adoptive father Cecil Gribble.

She is survived by her three children, whom she loved dearly, son, Kenneth Cook (Ronnie) of Indiana, daughters, Eva Cook (John Parker) of Tennessee, Michelle Hudson-Brown of Tennessee.

Grandchildren Matthew Cook, Kenneth Cook III, Natalie Bell, Cliff Hudson, Aimee Wilson, Ruby Cook, Lance Hughes, Hailey Hudson, many great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Siblings, brother Allan Gribble (Ruth) of North Carolina, sister Joyce Nablo (Thomas) of Indiana, brother Dannie Gribble (Karen) of Indiana.

Services are entrusted to Companion Funeral & Cremation Service. A private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."

Psalm 23:1-4 (KJV)
